National Legal Services Authority brings legal protection services under one roof

The National Legal Services Authority started its operations today. The agency brings public legal aid, public guardianship services and financial and debt counselling under one roof. The National Legal Services Authority is a state authority and it operates in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Justice.

– Our goal is to make the services for legal aid, guardianship services and financial and debt counselling more accessible and more uniform, while also improving the quality, says Marjo Kurki, Director General of the agency.

Agency operates nationwide

The National Legal Services Authority operates nationwide. It provides services in 22 legal aid offices and 22 public guardianship offices in Mainland Finland, and the legal aid and public guardianship office in Åland.

The agency does not have a main office, and its central administration operates from multiple locations. The central administration manages the support and administrative services of the agency and developes the agency’s activities.

The National Legal Services Authority employs approximately 1,300 people..
